India is a rapidly developing nation with number of construction activities going on across the country. The huge demand in construction of metros, railways, highways and hydropower projects has resulted in to vast scope for tunnelling. This is providing numerous opportunities for young tunnelling professionals to develop their skills and connect with global industry. To provide a platform for collaboration and development, President of Tunnelling Association of India (TAI), Dr.Mangu Singh, during the combined meeting of Governing Council and General Assembly of TAI launched Young Members group on 21^st December 2019.

The TAIYM Young Members group is open to all young tunnelling professionals under the age of 35. There is no charge for most of the events that are organised. The aims of the TAIYM Young Members are:

TAIYM has conducted various events since they have been launched and the motivation to stay connected to young professionals let TAIym to explore ways to use internet to carry on the work even in COVID-19 crisis. TAIym is conducting series of webinars that are streamed live to members and are available on TAIym YouTube channel for all.

TAIym has received extraordinary support and praise from the members and followers on LinkedIn. TAIym now has about 3000 followers on LinkedIn and is one of the most active young members’ society across globe.

TAIym has collaborated with MIT-WPU University for carrying out guest lectures and providing mentorship to write thesis of Masters Students. Other significant collaborations of TAIym include sharing experience on regular basis with L&T Tunnel Training Academy. IIT Delhi and British Tunnelling Society Young Members.
